  • Hydrocoated polyurethane catheters minimize thrombotic and bacterial aggregation on the catheter surface. By hydrating the catheter surface, the catheter becomes very smooth. Blood products and microorganisms are less likely to aggregate on a smoother surface than on a rougher surface. Thus, the likelihood of catheter clotting and catheter-related sepsis is reduced.
  • Hydrocoat represents an improvement in Hydrogel coatings through a patented process. This new generation is applied more permanently and produces the lowest coefficient of friction which relates to how slippery and effective the coating is.
  • The addition of the rounded catheter tip further reduces the risk of thrombotic related catheter failure. The rounded tip reduces damage to the sensitive endothelial wall of the blood vessel. Trauma to this intimal lining initiates the clotting cascade which hastens catheter failure.
  • Hydrocoat's highly lubricious surface facilitates very smooth insertion, particularly in smaller vessels. Additionally, the polyurethane material has a very strong wall tear strength, so it will not rupture as other catheter materials often do at high pressures.
